Wedding Insurance Might not Cover Foreign Venues
Wedding insurance is tailored to couples in the UK and so may not stretch to those who marry abroad, it has been claimed.
According to M&S Money, cover usually pays out for a cancellation or rearrangement, public liability, loss of photographs and damage. But while these conditions do not stretch for people getting married outside of the UK, it may be that a mish-mash of insurance policies can see the fundamentals of the ceremony covered, commented an expert.
“We do have an optional add-on to our travel insurance to cover overseas weddings but it’s not as comprehensive – it’s not actual bespoke wedding insurance like we do for the UK,” said Liz Neild, media relations manager for M&S Money.

When considering buying Wedding Insurance you should check what is covered and what is not, particularly when marrying abroad. In such instances you should check with your travel insurer that they will cover you for marrying abroad. Failure to inform them of all relevant details may invalidate your cover.
