This is certainly the most interesting proposal I’ve seen for a while?

Apparently she said yes – it would be difficult not to wouldn’t it?

An interesting article on Sunday Times On-Line caught my eye today: Mr & Mrs Cool – Forget about marriage being old-fashioned. The hip are getting hitched’ by Lydia Slater.

It basically talks about a ‘marriage Preparation Course at one of London’s trendiest Anglican churches – the Holy Trinity Brompton. Apparently the course is very popular among the trendy set and that attitudes to marriage seem to be looking back to the past in terms of values and aspirations.

As the piece points out, Marriage is a hot topic at the moment with all the political  parties taking a stance on the importance of marriage and the family unit.

There has been a lot of negative talk over the past few years regarding the future of marriage as an institution and it’s refreshing to see that a long awaited change of  attitude may be taking place.

Since most of the mainstream merchants seem to be obsessed with offering voucher codes and special offers I thought I would experiment with how to manage these various incentives.

I’m going to start publishing  a list of the current offers and maybe feature an ’Offer of the Week’ article.

Seeing as the various voucher and discount sites out there are not interested in adding any value to the concept I may as well throw my hat in the ring and take them on.

I’ve not heard of this one before – Wife Carrying

Visitors to Hereford Racecourse witnessed a race with a difference on Sunday – Wife Carrying. news.bbc

The sport, where men carry “wives” while racing along the course, originated in Finland.

It is thought to be inspired by a past custom when men courted women by picking them up and running off with them.

Well, I suppose it would save a lot of messing around – not to mention the money! Come to think about it – I wonder if this is where the phrase ‘being swept off your feet’ comes from?

On a topical note I see that Angels Fancy Dress have  found a cape which was worn by actor Christopher Lee in the 1958 vampire film, Dracula. The cape, which has been missing for 30 years, is thought to be worth over £20,000

Christopher Lee, who played the Count, was called upon to verify the cape was authentic after Angel’s staff discovered it. Lee, who is best known for playing villainous characters, played Roger Moore’s nemesis Scaramanga in The Man With The Golden Gun. Most recently he appeared as Saruman in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Count Dooku in the Star Wars prequels.

Manager Emma Angel said she was “delighted” to have found the cloak during their annual stock take.

OK, a bit of nicely timed publicity Emma but if it’s been missing for 30 years what have you been doing for the last 29 years?

Well, it looks like it’s that time of year again! While I’ve been waiting for Summertime to begin the world has moved on and the Christmas Shopping Season has begun.

The most important thing I’ve learnt about this subject over the last two weeks is how to spell boudoir. What seems like a simple matter now was certainly not so easy 2 weeks ago when I started looking into this hot subject. I was quite embarrassed about  this until I looked up the common spelling mistakes on Google AdSense, here’s a few examples:

boudor, bodoir, budoir, boodoir, boudior, bouodir, boduoir, buodoir

perhaps this why its becoming known as for your eyes only photography ? I would have thought ‘for his eyes only‘ would be more appropriate though?

It’s difficult now to find a forum that isn’t mentioning this type of portraiture on at least one thread every day (spelling mistakes accepted). And I’m sure that over the next year or so it will become even more popular still.
